Personal Picture Gallery Two

Summer of 1953 ... this picture taken before I started my Senior Year at Salem College. It is the picture I used on my application for admission to Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA.

Up on the roof of the Theta Kappa Psi Fraternity House, 919 Clinton Street; Freshman Year, 1955, with Philadelphia City Hall on the right in the distance.

This is the First Year medical student with Anatomy hmework... a box of bones, including the skull you see. We had to learn to recognize the bones and name every muscle attachment site.

This is my roommate in the Theta Kappa Psi Fraternity House, Dick Hanratty, and I studying our Anatomy homework.

Another picture... up on the roof. School "uniform" included shirt, tie, short white coat, and white bucks (for stamping out disease).
We would have been excluded from the lectures if we arrived in jeans and T-shirt! This is in contrast to the informal dress of today's medical students.

I became an Ensign Medical Corps, U.S. Navy on active duty between my Third and Fourth year in medical school. This was taken while visting grandparents in Michigan after I returned from the Midshipmen's Cruise the summer of 1957. I had traveled to the Caribbean and South America
